Need Cohort Brain Power!

So, I interviewed for an adult ESL program. Now they want me to come back and give a 40-minute teaching demonstration to an Intermediate level Speaking and Listening class. I have some ideas for a lesson plan, but nothing terribly exciting. I thought I'd pose the question to the group to see if anyone has any real WOW ideas, since I've been blown away by many of your ideas in the past. Don't think too hard, but if an idea comes to you, let me know. Thanks!

And Christine-- What a sigh of relief for you! I'm so happy for you and your boys.

See you all at the picnic,
Jen

How about something based on understanding and using idioms? Half the class could draw an idiomatic expression and the other half could draw the definitions, and they could try to match up with each other, then share with the class.

Or you could resort to Dr. Flowers' favorite topic for adult learners -- phrasal verbs! (Didn't somebody do a presentation on that in Linguisitcs, too?)

You'll come up with something great -- you always do! Keep us posted on how it goes.

Yes, it was me in linguistics...with partitives (a head of lettuce, a gaggle of geese...) You could do the grocery game, Jen...I could e-mail you the power point slides I had for the game (probably goes only about 1/3 of the way through the alphabet, but it's a start)...

Thanks..yes, I'm breathing a little easier!

OK, so it took me until now to figure out that responses go under the comments section. Thanks for the ideas! Christine, that would be great if you could e-mail me the PPT slides! Thanks.
